ABOUT TITUMIR HALL
Titumir Hall is one of the nine resident halls of BUET, which has a total seat capacity of 439 for male students. The hall started its functions in 1964, which was renamed as Titumir Hall on 31 July, 1972 after the great independence of Bangladesh. Titumir (27 January, 1782 – 19 November, 1831) whose full name was ‘Syed Mir Nisar Al Titumir’, was a Bengali revolutionary, who developed a strand of nationalism coupled with agrarian and political consciousness. He built a large bamboo fort to fight against the British force, which passed onto Bengali folk stories.
The infrastructure of Titumir Hall boasts an impressive array of facilities designed to cater to the diverse needs of the residents. Within the premise, there are a well-designed dining hall, a convenient canteen, a comfortable common room, a versatile multipurpose hall that serves as a hub for various activities and events. Besides these, there are playground, laundry, salon, mosque, reading room, library, prayer room, and a beautifully landscaped garden. A reliable broadband connection is offered to all the resident students of Titumir Hall. In addition to the university's central security system, the hall is equipped with dedicated security personnel who ensure a secure and protected environment for all residents. Entire hall premise is under CCTV surveillance.
The ‘Liberation War and Hiridaye Bangabandhu’ has been set up at the library of Titumir Hall on august, 2021 marking the national mourning day. The history of the Great Liberation War has been highlighted in the corner. Titumir Hall Alumni Association was formed on December 23, 2022, which is a platform of the alumni of Titumir Hall of BUET for both resident and attached one.
